"Nothing we do to defend the human person, no matter how small, is ever unfruitful or forgotten. Our actions touch other lives and move other hearts in ways we can never fully understand in this world. Don’t ever underestimate the beauty and power of the witness you give in your pro-life work."

Fremont Fair Pro-life Booth

Human Life of Seattle will continue its tradition of having a booth at the Fremont Fair, this year on Saturday and Sunday, June 18 and 19. A few more people are needed to help staff the booth. If you would be interested in helping, please contact Ted. Ted will soon be asking people to sign up for specific 3 - 4 hour shifts. He would like to have at least one man and one woman on each shift.

This is an important (and fun) pro-life event. It takes place in the very center of ultra-liberal Seattle, but many fairgoers express support for the pro-life position, and many others approach the booth and are willing to calmly discuss the right to life issue. Vocal opposition occurs, but fairly rarely; it is not at all the norm. There will be literature, balloons, and 12-week fetal models available for distribution.

NPR + Planned Parenthood = More Bias

by PIA de Solenni on APRIL 15, 2011

Just this week, KUOW, NPR’s Seattle station, ran a story on the "Controversy Surrounding Limited Service Pregnancy Centers." In fact, it was a direct attack on a local ad campaign undertaken by the Vitae Foundation, a client of mine. (Vitae’s response is here.)

The problem with the ad campaign? It offered women choices – gasp! – about their pregnancies. It provided a website which clearly states that women have several options including abortion. It also makes clear that the website neither promotes nor refers for abortions. That’s pretty straightforward.

But NPR did the story without contacting Vitae and, apparently, without consulting much of the website. It did however spend quite a bit of time hearing from the public affairs director of the local Planned Parenthood. Their complaint? They don’t like the competition that Vitae represents. Somebody hand them a box of tissues, please. In the meantime, let legitimate organizations get back to doing the legitimate work of trying to reach their audiences. Read more...

Life, Marriage and Family

Thank you to everyone who took the time to contact their Senator and urge him/her to oppose E2SHB 1267. On Tuesday, April 12, Washington state Senators passed 1267 with some amendments, including striking paid surrogacy from the bill.

The Washington State House has refused to concur on the Senate amendments for consideration. A conference committee, consisting of Representatives Pederson, Eddy, and Shea has been appointed.

Please continue to pray that morality prevails and this bill will not allow for paid surrogacy, exploiting women and making children commodities.

Pro-abortion & Catholic? It’s absolutely impossible to be both…

by John Ritchie, Student Action Director Tradition Family Property, 4/8/11

Update: Over 20,927 people and counting already petitioned Catholic Seattle University NOT to promote Planned Parenthood internships on campus.

The BIG problem is that the university calls itself Catholic, while encouraging students to “get involved” with several pro-abortion groups like the National Organization for Women.

Urgent action: Respectfully and politely voice your concern by calling the president of Seattle University, Fr. Stephen V. Sundborg, SJ. Ask him to stop the promotion of Planned Parenthood internships and take all pro-abortion groups off the university’s web site.

Call today: 206-296-1891

If you didn’t have a chance to sign the e-protest please do so – here.
