Commentary and News

"Science teaches that human life begins at conception.  If it is also true that it is affirmed by religion, it does not for that reason cease to be a strictly scientific truth, to be transformed into a religious opinion.  He who denies that human life begins with conception does not need to contend with religion, but science.  To deny this certainty of biology is not to express a lack of faith, but a lack of basic knowledge of human genetics, something that is even known by the general public."

Please tell your friends and family about the Coalition Against Assisted Suicide and if you have not already done so, make a donation to this organization to help them defeat I-1000. In addition, take the time to educate yourself regarding I-1000 by visiting the question and answer section of www.noassistedsuicide.com.  The Coalition Against Assisted Suicide needs volunteers to:

  1. Go to locations and special events where they are gathering signatures and hand out palm cards urging people, "Don't sign the death warrant." The signature gatherers are just hired hands who get paid for every signature they collect.  We need volunteers to counter their activity.
  2. Contact senior centers, service clubs, and faith organizations in your community and help them schedule a speaker who can give an educational presentation about assisted suicide and I-1000.

Divine Mercy Care Expands to Include a Pro-Life Pharmacy

(6/10/08, Fairfax, VA) –  By the grace of God, and with the unfailing support of our donors, Divine Mercy Care (DMC) will expand its healthcare operations beyond the Tepeyac Family Center (TFC) and launch a second entity in August 2008— the DMC Pharmacy, a pro-life non-profit pharmacy.

“In His providence, God has seen fit to bring us a successful, competent, pro-life pharmacist in the person of Robert Semler,” stated Dr. John Bruchalski, Board Chairman, “and we are thrilled to bring his professionalism and expertise under the mantle of Divine Mercy Care for the benefit of all our patients, friends, donors and members of the community.”

The pharmacy, only one of seven pro-life pharmacies in the United States and the only one near a major metropolitan area, will be managed by Robert Semler, R.Ph., a graduate of Rutgers University College of Pharmacy.  Semler, a long-time member of Pharmacists for Life International, has over 30 years experience in hospital, chain, franchise and independent pharmacy practice.

“Our mission as a non-profit pharmacy,” stated Semler “is to offer superior pharmaceutical care—both traditional and clinical services—focusing on the individual in a family-oriented, pro-life environment, free of contraceptive products and anti-life messages. I am thrilled to be able to provide excellent pharmaceutical care to all who walk through the doors,” Semler said, “and I am grateful to be able to practice within the umbrella of Divine Mercy Care where my conscience will never be violated and my faith does not have to be ‘checked at the door’ each morning.”

The DMC Pharmacy will offer FDA approved prescription drugs, over-the-counter drugs, and quality alternative products including vitamins, natural products, homeopathics and herbals, home health needs and special order products and equipment.  In keeping with Divine Mercy Care’s principles, the DMC Pharmacy will not dispense, recommend or counsel on contraceptive products. It will truly be a pharmacy for life!

“Divine Mercy Care is values based and consumer driven.  Both patients and professionals do not want to abandon their conscience while they seek medical care,” Bruchalski continued.  “We need to be professional, personal, and passionate about how we infuse our community with the love of Jesus Christ.  We must not separate our faith from our work. The God of science is also the God of revealed religion” said Bruchalski. “As Pope Benedict XVI emphasized in his recent visit to the USA, ‘Only when their faith permeates every aspect of their lives do Christians become truly open to the transforming power of the Gospel.’”

DMC Pharmacy is the second operating entity of Divine Mercy Care, the first being the Tepeyac Family Center.  To learn more about Divine Mercy Care, a 501(c)3 tax exempt health care organization, and its mission to transform hearts through healthcare, call  703-934-5552, email info@divinemercycare.org, or visit them on the web at www.divinemercycare.org.

Planned Parenthood Targets Native Americans with Abortion
By Colin Mason
June 9, 2008 (LifeSiteNews.com/PRI) - The American abortion lobby claims to be an equal-opportunity abortion provider, looking out for the needs and wants of all women. Not so. Big Abortion devotes an inordinate amount of attention to Blacks, Hispanics, and Alaska Natives who, in proportion to their population, have the highest abortion rates in America. Now, eager to add another scalp to its collection, it is turning its sights on Native Americans. Read More

Never underestimate what a young person can do.  Thanks to 20-year-old Kristi Burton, a Colorado constitutional amendment that would define personhood as “any human being from the moment of fertilization” has collected enough signatures to be placed on the ballot for the November election.  Information about the Colorado constitutional amendment can be found at Catholic News Agency.  The story behind the amendment can be found in the Denver Post.
