Follow Up on June 15 Washington State Alert

by Celeste and Beth

The Stormans' case...is critical to all pro-lifers.

It is our understanding that this is the first and only case in the United States that is chipping away at the conscience clause provision established for physicians after Roe v Wade became law.

Celeste had the opportunity to sit in the courtroom as Judge Leighton heard oral arguments from both the State and Kristin Waggoner, the attorney for the Stormans.

The State argued that the following material was irrelevant to the case and should not be part of the trial:
1. the history of the rule making process
2. the actual real life application of the rule in a pharmacy
3. the connection to Planned Parenthood
4. the legislative actions related to this rulemaking process

Your Prayers Were Heard! Kristin Waggoner was confident and wise as she presented her oral arguments. When the judge asked her questions, her answers were fluid and effortless. It was an honor to see God’s hand at work.

Judge Leighton ruled that this case was too important not to have a full trial; the State lost their summary judgment motion. The Judge was quite clear on what he would allow into the trial and he stated that all of the four above would be part of the hearing.
____________

ACTIONS:
1.  Pray for Judge Leighton and the upcoming trial on July 26.
2.  Pray for Kristin Waggoner, the attorney who will be litigating this case.
3.  Pray that she will have wisdom and peace as she prepares for the trial.
4.  Pray that God’s protection will surround the Stormans and the lawyers who are working on this case.

 EVENTS

Gabriel Project

If you are curious about the Gabriel Project and may be able to offer your help as a volunteer, please come to the informational session in St. Stephen's Social Hall from 10 a.m until 12 noon on Saturday, June 26.

All kinds of volunteers, both men and women to serve in many capacities, will be needed when the program starts in September.

Father Ed White has been asked to lead the development of this ministry in our (whole big) archdiocese. It is a parish-based ministry to women facing crisis pregnancies. More information is available at
www.seattlearchdiocese.org/CFF/CST/Gabriel.aspx.

(You may find it easier to click on GABRIEL PROJECT in the menu on the left side of St. Stephen's website, www.ststephens.us.)

Prospective volunteers from all over the Seattle Archdiocese are asked to attend this informational session.

Please consider volunteering to help in this pro-life ministry and encourage your friends to do the same.

If you have any questions, please contact trishwarfel@gmail.com
